The swap has dozens of vendors and hundreds of participants and is a fundraiser for the Fats in the Cats Bicycle Club.

The New Paltz Bike Swap is locally supported by local volunteers and community cyclists. The Fats in the Cats (short for Fat Tires in the Catskill Mountains) is a non-profit organization cycling club that builds and maintains trails for non-motorized use, lobbies for bike friendly legislastion, works with land managers to maintain trail access and donates time and money to support bike friendly causes.
